Sam McDowell - Scrimshaw Money Clip

Scrimshaw began in the early 1800's by Yankee whalers who occupied their long hours at sea engraving pictures and designs on whales' teeth. This scrimshaw money clip was designed by a one-time Princeton art professor, Sam McDowell, whose work has been exhibited internationally. It is made of surgical stainless steel, a brass liner, nickel silver repousse and highly polished camel bone or Micarta. This is a one-of-a-kind collector's piece, hand engraved and signed by the artist. Measures 2.5 inch x 1 inch.
