Shark Tooth Pendant

$78.00

Captivating example of a fossilized shark tooth. Set in a sterling silver bezel that has a strip of stingray leather on its bail. Very provocative.

Fossilized shark teeth are usually found covered in sediment on the ocean floor. Rapid covering of a tooth is important as it protects it from decay and weathering. Fossilization takes thousands of years. It occurs as water seeps through the sediments and deposits minerals into the porous tooth, usually silica and calcite. The minerals will usually determine the color of the fossil. Please see below for a size reference.
