Antique Tibetan Buddhist Ceremonial Devotional Bell


A principle object in Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies, this heavy metal bell reflects the high level of craftsmanship in Tibet, and the endurance of the spiritual traditions inbedded in Buddhism. This bell is considered to be from the 19th century. It has a vajra shaped handle, a beautifully cast, refined bodhisattva's face, traditional auspicious symbols and Sanskrit characters in low relief.

This altar bell stands 14.25 inches tall. The diameter of the bell is 6 inches across, and it weighs nearly 4 pounds. These bells were commonly used in ceremonies to facilitate calmness and a meditative state, and to purify sound in a given space.
