Bobo Bush Spirit Antelope Traditional Wood Carving

Beautiful African miniature mask from the Bobo people of Burkina Faso. This is a traditional stylized carving that represents an antelope, one of the tribe's supernatural bush spirits. The bush spirits include pig, hornbill, hyena, buffalo, and antelope, which is one of the most popular.

This carving has a gentle countenance with almond eyes and the age-old geometric patterns. These masks are used in ritual dances that cleanse and purify the land. It is 9.5 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 2.5 inches deep.
