Sponge coral can be found in the South China Sea, Indonesia and Taiwan. It is made from small tube-like colonizing marine animals called polyps. Coral is composed primarily of calcium carbonate which is a chemical compound found in rocks and marine organisms in all parts of the world. Its color comes from natural pigments such as Carotene. This type of coral is not an endangered species.
