Abalone Turtles

What more perfect shell than abalone to depict a turtle's back? This small mosaic of natural abalone pieces gives the exact texture and color variations of a turtle's back with an attractive hint of aqua green. One cool thing about abalone which is a sea snail that is highly prized for its flavorful meat is that the outside shell is monochromatic and dull. But inside the shell is of iridescent nacre that has a range of deep colors from silver to pink to deep blue green to purple.
