This very special Roman coin is of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus who was the last of the Five Good Emperors. This is a term that refers to emperors known for their just and effective rule during a period of relative peace and prosperity for the Roman Empire. His reign was from 161 to 180AD. Known as a philosopher-king, he was considered a brilliant leader and a Stoic philosopher.

This beautifully preserved coin is set in slightly etched sterling silver. One side is the bust of Marcus Aurelis and the reverse side is of the winged Victory.
