Roman Coin Ring

Flavius Julius Valens was a Roman emperor from 364 until 378 A.D. From a largely unremarkable military career, he was named co-emperor by his elder brother Valentinian I, who gave him the eastern half of the Roman Empire to Rule. Valens is credited with commissioning a short history of the Roman State, which tells the story of Rome from its founding. He wanted to learn Roman history so that he could mix with the Roman Senatorial class. He lived from 328 until 378 A.D. He is sometimes known as the Last True Roman Emperor.
