Authentic Roman Coin

Flavius Iulius Arcadius was Eastern Roman emperor from 395 to 408, and previously co-emperor under his father Theodosius I from 383. He was the first Eastern emperor to rule after the final East-West division that followed the death of his father, and his reign is sometimes considered as the beginning of the Byzantine Empire. Arcadius was a weak ruler, often dominated by his regents and government. He unexpectedly died in 408. He was succeeded by his only son, Theodosius II.

Theodosius was born in 401. On January 402 he was proclaimed co-augustus by his father. In 408 when his father died, Theodosius II became the sole emperor of the Eastern half of the Roman Empire, at the age of 7. He ruled until 450AD.
