Authentic Roman Coin

This wonderful pendant features an authentic roman coin in a sterling silver bracket prong bezel that is open in the back so both sides of the coin can be seen. It depicts the peasant Licinius, who as a trusted friend joined the Emperor Galerius on the Persian expedition of 297 AD. His loyalty earned him a promotion to rank of Augustus - which means co-emperor. He then commanded the western half of the Roman Empire.

He was a colleague of Constantine I, though his relationship with him eventually deteriated. This brought on several civil wars and eventually Licinius' execution in 325AD.

The front of the coin shows Licinius' right side of head. The back features Jupiter, who protects Augustus.
