Byzantine Reduced Follis 8th Century Greek Coin

This Roman coin from the Byzantine Empire is from the Eastern Roman Empire of the Middle Ages, lasting from the 4th century AD until 1453. At this time there was an introduction of new coins, specifically the Follis, or plural Folles. These were the large bronze coins introduced in 498AD which included a series of bronze denominations with their values marked in Greek numerals. 'K' represented the value of 20 nummi. This coin is reported to be from the 700's AD from the Greek city of Thessaloniki.
