Linda Layden Handmade Scrimshaw 2 Blade Knife


Peace and tranquility - nothing like sailing along with the wind at your back, calms seas and full sails. This carefully rendered scrimshaw carving has lovely details like rippling banners and a complete compass rose.

This bone handled knife features two Rough Rider stainless steel blades. One blade is 2.5 inches, the other is 2 inches. When open, the knife measures just offer 5.5 inches; when closed it measures a perfect pocket size 3.25 inches.

Linda Layden grew up in southeastern Massachusetts, an area steeped in whaling history, knowledge and stories. She has been creating scrimshaw as a full time endeavor for over 40 years. Each piece is made by hand and honors the ancient art of the mariners. Her work can be found in private collections and galleries, and in fine shops, like Caravan Gallery, through out the world.
