Rutilated Quartz Crystal

Wonderfully large piece of natural quartz crystal firmly set in a sterling silver prong frame. One can see deep inside this transparent crystal and can see golden rutiles towards the bottom right when facing the pendant. These rutiles are made of titanium oxide, which gives that golden hue, and the name rutilated quartz.

Rutilated quartz, and natural quartz itself, has been used since ancient times as jewelry and for decoration. It also was believed that wearing or carrying these crystals could bring clarity and insight into one's life. It is good at times to look within and to try to understand how we live.
